Though never considered a major star, Louise Brooks graced the covers of a number of magazines in her day, both in the United States and around the world. This page, one of a handful which document Brooks’ magazine cover appearances, feature vintage covers published in Germany. Covers are presented in chronological order. Notably, most all of the titles shown below are film magazines, except for Hamburger Illustrierte, a pictorial, and Ich bin Dein, a story magazine. Die Ehe is a mystery. The four issues of Film Kurier shown below were issued around the time the film depicted on the cover was released in Germany; these thin publications, devoted entirely to the film, may have been used as a program.
If you have additional covers or further information on any of these titles, or if you have a better scan of any of these covers, please CONTACT the Louise Brooks Society. (The black-and-white Reichsfilmblatt and Kinematograph covers are especially in need of an upgrade.) Thank you for your interest. A directory of other pages on the LBS website which feature cover appearances can be found on Louise Brooks – “Cover Girl”.
