Though never considered a major star, Louise Brooks graced the covers of a number of magazines in her day, both in the United States and around the world. This page, one of a handful which document Brooks’ magazine cover appearances, feature vintage covers published in France. Covers are presented in chronological order. All of the titles shown below are film magazines. Notably, Brooks appeared on only one cover prior to 1928, but went on to appear on nearly two dozen more covers in 1929 and 1930 — thus making France the one country which can claim the most covers. (France even surpasses Germany and Austria, combined.)
Le Film, shown below, is the sister publication to De Film, which was distributed in Belgium and Holland. The two issues of Eve, also shown below, represent the French magazine and its variant, French-language edition distributed to Belgium. It was marked as being for another territory by being rubber stamped in green ink at the top of the cover. See the page of other European covers for the matching issues of these two magazines.
